Philanthropy in Action

As a brand, our founder insists on giving back because she understands the struggle to seek help, understanding, and guidance when one suffers in silence. So, she founded the ‘Waves of Relief Initiative’.

MEET THE FOUNDER
Catherine Hearns
Hi, I’m delighted you’re here, let me introduce myself.

I’m happily married to Declan and have three adult children, Jordan, Jamie and Abbie. I left my 30-year career in Retail and Operations management in 2023, using the experience I gained through work and self-learning, MyComfort was established.
My health has always been challenging, I have dilated cardiomyopathy and fibromyalgia. 26 years ago, 2 weeks after I gave birth to Jamie I experienced my first migraine, aged 24. After 6 Years I was diagnosed with Sporadic Hemiplegic Migraine.

Why We Chose the Ocean Theme for Our Brand?
At MyComfort, our choice to adopt an ocean theme is deeply personal and resonates with our core values and experiences. The ocean is a force of nature, known for both its ferocity and its tranquillity. This duality resonates closely with the experience of a migraine, which can surge with the intensity of a stormy sea but eventually settle into the calmness of a quiet tide.
Our connection to the ocean deepens with our love for the iconic Pixar film, Finding Nemo. In Dory, the friendly but forgetful fish, we see a symbol of the mental fog that often accompanies migraines. Her determined quest to reunite with her family mirrors our dedication—not only to our loved ones but to our larger family of customers who will join us on this journey.
Our ocean theme reflects our personal journey with migraines and our deep love for the sea, making MyComfort more than just a brand—it’s a story of resilience, compassion, and admiration for the natural world around us.
MyComfort – Empathy, Innovation, and Sustainability
At MyComfort, we are committed to making life a little easier for those affected by neurological conditions. Founded on principles of compassion, values and sustainability, our products are designed with the environment in mind, using innovative materials like Econyl fabric made from regenerated and recycled ocean waste.
The MyComfort Journey
In March 2023, during a self-care session, Catherine heard a simple wish from a fellow migraine sufferer: ‘I wish there were a toolkit to help manage my condition’. Afterwards, while chatting with Declan, mentioning this comment, he looked at her and said, ‘Why don’t you do it Cath, you’d be great’. With this gap identified, they talked about what she always uses, and what she finds the most frustrating.

Born from a Personal Need
She could never find a nice eye mask, so Catherine began developing MyComfort’s range. Starting with the Multiway eye mask, she innovated a mask that offers cold compression, deep pressure stimulation, and relaxation through scent, an innovative product with an exhaustive list of benefits. She registered the design in Europe and applied for a patent, which is currently pending.
